Disaster back on the train to Rumorsville
Filed under: Rumors
We’ve been pessimistic about Disaster: Day of Crisis getting localized for North America, and with (what we believe to be) good reason. Now, the will-it-won’t-it saga has taken another twist, after Go Nintendo reader Silver Lunar received an email from Nintendo customer support saying the game would be released in the region.
Okay, we know. Some guy saying he got an email from Nintendo customer support is exactly the kind of anecdote we’d usually snort derisively at, and you’re right: we should all treat this with a degree of suspicion. That said, Go Nintendo’s RMC received screencaps of Silver Lunar’s email exchange with the big N, and reckons it’s the real thing. If you’ll excuse us, we’ll shamelessly grasp at any straws tossed our way. Pleeeeease be true, lovely Disaster rumor.

Not long ago, we spent a little time talking about the games you were looking forward to next year. Today, we want to do the opposite. What upcoming hyped game just doesn’t do it for you? Are you so over The Conduit? Could you possible care any less about anything to do with Punch-Out!!? If you’re ho-hum over anything, we want to know about it.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories Review
For all of the differences Disney and Square Enix must have while developing their Final Fantasy/Mickey Mouse mashup franchise, at least they can agree on something: Rereleases are so much easier than sequels. Thus, instead of a proper sequel (hell, even the two new portable Kingdom Hearts titles coming out next year aren’t true sequels), we get Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories — a 3D remake of a Game Boy Advance game from 2004. But even when faced with a simple retread, I admit it: I’m a total sucker for anything Kingdom Hearts. So while my mind says, “You’re an idiot for replaying a 5-year-old game,” my heart says, “You’re an idiot for drooling over yet another game that combines Final Fantasy and Disney together, but, hey, that’s why I love you, you big goof.”
Despite the d?j? vu I felt while playing COM, I still enjoyed going through all of the levels again…just like I enjoyed going through the same exact levels in the original Kingdom Hearts, because, well, COM is essentially a remake of the first game but with cards. Now, if you’re keeping count, I’ve been through the same Kingdom Hearts areas three times now. Excessive, yes…but if you’re obsessive about the series, like me, it’s still fun. Why? Well, playing through COM feels old and new at the same time. Sure, I already know what’s going to happen in the story (a confusing yet rewarding tale that takes place between the first and second game). And sure, I already know how the game plays (plenty of action layered atop a competent but completely unnecessary card-combat system), but I really enjoy seeing everything in 3D (though I’m baffled by the choice to include the original KH’s puke-worthy camera).
Mystery title from Monster Games kicks speculation into high gear
Filed under: News

Looks like Monster Games — the folks behind the Wii launch title Excite Truck — are hard at work on a super secret new project for the console, and have been for a long time. How secret is it? So secret, apparently, that they have to turn down their monitors when unauthorized folks walk into the office. Sounds like anything but an Excite Truck follow-up, eh? There aren’t many reasons to keep that a secret. So what could it be? Monster Games only seems to put out racing titles, so we’re gonna bet there will be vehicles and high speeds, but that could cover a lot of ground. Some have guessed that it might be an all-new F-Zero, but frankly, we’re holding out for something that’s really new and not a revival. Not that we wouldn’t enjoy a little F-Zero, but we like new things, too.
